Trauma 101 & Trauma 102 833 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA, United StatesTrauma 101: This course introduces trauma theory, beginning with understanding the brain/body stress response, and then exploring the short- and long-term impact of adversity, toxic stress and trauma. We include discussion of the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) research, Historical Trauma and Social Determinants of distress as well as buffering factors and resiliency. Adolescent Support Group
NAMI Philadelphia is excited to launch its Adolescent Support Group! This group is for ages 12-17 and meets every Wednesday at 5 pm on the third floor of the Scattergood Building of Friends Hospital. Participants must complete a registration form and provide a signed permission slip before attendance. This group will be facilitated by Ailkhees Ponton (aponton@namiphilly.org) and John Pillar (jpillar@bdo.com). Ur Storytellers Storytelling Training
PRO-ACT 520 Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, United StatesUrStorytellers collaborates with the City Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services (DBHIDS) to conduct a training session on storytelling. This training is a mandatory prerequisite that is a part of the Certified Peer Specialist application process. The main objective is to educate the recovery and faith-based communities on effectively sharing their narratives within community environments. Support Group facilitated by a licensed therapist. This group is designed to meet the needs of Parents and Caregivers of those with mental health, behavioral health and substance use challenges who are aged 14 and over. Meets the first Thursday of every month on Zoom.
