Pet Loss Grief Resources
If you or someone you know is struggling with grief over the loss of their pet, support and help are available. Check out some of the resources below.

Lap of Love offers free virtual pet loss support groups on Thursdays and Saturdays. Specialty pet loss support groups (for specific topics like anticipatory grief or children and pet loss) are available.
The Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement offers free, moderated chat rooms for pet loss support on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and 1st and 3rd Saturdays. Anticipatory grief support chat is held on the 1st Thursday of each month. Paid video support groups are also available.
Michigan State University Veterinary Medical Center offers a free, remote support group on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of every month. Join via phone or on Zoom.
Wings Pet Loss Support Group is a free Zoom group that meets on the first Wednesday of every month. Organized by Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
The Center for Veterinary Social Work offers a free telehealth pet loss support group on a monthly basis through the University of Tennessee.
Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine – Pet Loss Support Hotline is staffed by volunteer veterinary students who have undergone extensive training with professional grief counselors. The Pet Loss Support Hotline is available via Google Voice to support you Monday-Friday 6-9 p.m. EST, Saturday 12-9 p.m. EST, and Sunday 12-9 p.m. EST.

Chicago Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) – Pet Loss Hotline offers a helpline where you call and leave a message; your call is forwarded to a volunteer who will return your call.

Tufts University, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine – Pet Support Helpline provides resources for people grieving the loss of a pet. The helpline is staffed from 6 pm to 9 pm Monday through Thursday EST and has 24-hour voicemail.
