Storytelling is a training facilitated by Ur Storytellers in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services (DBHIDS). This training is one of many that are approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goal of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and the importance of sharing them in community settings. The Survivors of Suicide Loss Support Groups help loss survivors cope, connect, and work toward healing. Trained group facilitators are suicide loss survivors who know, firsthand, how difficult it can be to find your way after losing someone to suicide. The groups are open to anyone 18 years or older who is grieving a loss due to suicide. No pre-registration is required, but you are welcome to send an email to let us know that you might attend. These one-hour, virtual monthly conversations will explore a range of mental health topics and will be led by our Education and Training Unit.
