Intership & Apprenticeships

The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) practicum is a paid internship that enhances existing professional skills by offering opportunities to apply what was learned in the CPS training.

Practicum participants gain proficiency in the use of professional tools such as office machines and e-mail, improve written and oral communication skills, and gain familiarity with workplace procedures and etiquette.

By working with Mental Health Partnerships Information and Referral program, participants expand their knowledge of the behavioral health system and directly engage with person in recovery and professional colleagues.

Registered apprenticeships offered by District 1199C Training and Upgrading Fund, a labor management partnership between District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital & Health Care Employees and multiple Philadelphia hospitals. The fund provides individualized opportunities to union members and the community to pursue academic and career goals.

CPS Employment & Technical Assistance Program

The DBHIDS CPS Employment & Technical Assistance Program (CETAP) provides employment assistance and individual professional development support to peers seeking employment. CETAP specialists work one-on-one with peers to implement plans that provide them with the tools to find and retain employment.

Services include: resume and cover letter review, face-to-face pre-interview support, employment linkage, and post-interview support.
