Gender Spectrum
Support site with online forums for both teens and parents. The organization hosts a few different conferences about trans youth throughout the year.
Parents of Transgender Children Facebook Group
A closed group that Jazz Jennings’s mom, Jeanette, moderates. This group is closed and is for parents of trans kids. You must send a request to join as it helps keep out those who are trolls but once you’re accepted, it is a loving a safe space
PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)
Comprehensive online guide for parents of transgender kids, and they do an excellent job of breaking down their resources into very specific needs, like finding support groups for trans women of color
TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation
A family foundation that the Jennings family started. Consists of interviews, stories of other trans youth
Trans-Parenting
For parents, doctors, clinicians, anyone interacting with the trans youth, the group provides great educational materials
National
GLAAD
Using the power of all forms of media, GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) helps spread the message of LGBTQ support and acceptance on a massive scale. They’re the ones that help lead many of the national conversations that happen about LGBTQ rights
Lambda Legal
Oldest and largest legal organization devoted to civil rights for LGBTQ people. They advocate for LGBTQ people. They advocate for public policy and select cases to represent that they think will have the biggest impact on the community
Trans*Athlete
A fantastic resource for transgender athletes that includes a state-by-state guide to existing inclusion policies, plus interactions on how to get the ball rolling if you live somewhere without one
TransBucket
Questions about Surgery and hormone options, this is the place to go. Not only are there detailed descriptions of everything available out there, but there is also a photo-sharing community so people can see the actual results from different doctors. (Be warned—there is a lot of nudity so make sure you’re in a safe space when you register and log on) TransBucket’s own resources section is a wealth of information on almost every topic imaginable that relates to anyone who is trans or gender nonconforming
TransFamily
A support group based in Cleveland, OH. The LISTSERV and discussions can be utilized as a lifeline when it comes to figuring out what is best for you, your family, or your child(ren).
Trans Youth Equality Foundation
Provides education, advocacy, and support for the transgender and gender nonconforming children and youth and their families. The mission is to share information about the unique needs of this community, partnering with families, educators, and service providers to help foster a healthy, caring, and sage environment for all transgender children
GLBT National Help Center
A hotline where you can talk to your peers about everything from relationship problems to bullying
Trans Lifeline
Relatively new suicide hotline for and run by transgender people for all ages.
Trevor Project
Number one LGBTQ youth suicide prevention. There is access to a live chat, text, or call with their trained staff members.
FORGE
A national transgender anti-violence organization. Federally funded to provide direct services to transgender, gender non-conforming and gender non-binary survivors of sexual assault. Since 2011, FORGE has served as the only transgender-focused organization federally funded to provide training and technical assistance to providers around the country who work with transgender survivors of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking.
RAD Remedy
Goal: to connect trans*, gender nonconforming, intersex & queer (TGIQ) folks to accurate, safe, respectful, and comprehensive care in order to improve individual and community health. A community-driven and collectively operated non profit organization that seeks to empower TGIQ folks, streamline community based organizations’ processes, and increase provider competency. Email RAD.
