Free Mental Health Training
for Health Professionals
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) increases the level of baseline knowledge about mental health, eating disorders, suicidality, and substance abuse issues. The program aims to decrease the negative perceptions often associated with these issues. For health professionals, this knowledge is critical. MHFA can help a health professional more readily identify signs and symptoms of mental health challenges while supporting a person in the physical health world.
Oftentimes individuals will visit a physical health professional before seeking treatment from a mental health professional, so it is critical that healthcare workers have this skillset in order to provide quality, effective and integrated care. It is not only patients who benefit. MHFA training also provides health professionals the capacity to recognize signs and symptoms of a colleague who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or challenge as the result of stressors from working in a health care environment. Health professionals such as doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, etc. can all benefit from Mental Health First Aid training.
If you reside in Philadelphia, Behavioral Health Training Education Network (BHTEN) offers 8 CEU Credits for MHFA trainings. You can also register online for an available community training or request a group training.
