SUMMARY:DBHIDS Immigrant/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA)
DESCRIPTION:The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is excited to launch its fourth cohort of the Immigrant/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA). IRWA is a free certificate training program designed to empower and prepare Philadelphia’s multilingual/multicultural immigrants and refugees with the knowledge\, resources\, and tools to engage in activities that address the mental health and behavioral challenges experienced by local immigrant and refugee communities. \nThe program will enhance participants’ leadership skills\, increase knowledge about behavioral health and intellectual disability challenges\, and empower graduates with the tools to access local resources for themselves and their communities. These interactive sessions reinforce collaborative learning through presentations\, discussion activities\, and meaningful dialogue to build personal and community resilience and wellness. \nIRWA will run Wednesdays from April 15 to June 17. It consists of an orientation\, eight sessions\, and a graduation ceremony. IRWA is offered in person and through virtual sessions. While we recognize that all grief can be difficult\, when you lose a loved one in a stigmatized way\, it can further impede the grieving process. SUMMARY:Ur Storytellers Storytelling Training
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is a training facilitated by Ur Storytellers in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services (DBHIDS). This training is one of many that are approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goal of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and the importance of sharing them in community settings. This training will be 4 hrs in length\, delivered in a PowerPoint format\, and interactive activities will enhance this training. After the conclusion of the training\, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.

SUMMARY:Virtual Grief Support Group - All Arms Locked
DESCRIPTION:Philly HEALs will be hosting a virtual support group for men who are experiencing grief from stigmatized loss. While we recognize that all grief can be difficult\, when you lose a loved one in a stigmatized way\, it can further impede the grieving process. Examples of stigmatized loss are losses due to overdose\, addiction\, homicide\, or suicide. This group will assist in building community between men who have experienced similar losses as well as giving participants tools to deal with this type of grief. SUMMARY:DBHIDS Immigrant/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA)
DESCRIPTION:The City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services (DBHIDS) is excited to launch its fourth cohort of the Immigrant/Refugee Wellness Academy (IRWA). IRWA is a free certificate training program designed to empower and prepare Philadelphia’s multilingual/multicultural immigrants and refugees with the knowledge\, resources\, and tools to engage in activities that address the mental health and behavioral challenges experienced by local immigrant and refugee communities. \nThe program will enhance participants’ leadership skills\, increase knowledge about behavioral health and intellectual disability challenges\, and empower graduates with the tools to access local resources for themselves and their communities. These interactive sessions reinforce collaborative learning through presentations\, discussion activities\, and meaningful dialogue to build personal and community resilience and wellness. \nIRWA will run Wednesdays from April 15 to June 17. It consists of an orientation\, eight sessions\, and a graduation ceremony. IRWA is offered in person and through virtual sessions. Standard sessions will run from 2 to 4 p.m. There will also be two special sessions: Mental Health Interpretation\, which will last four hours\, and Mental Health First Aid\, is an all-day session. \nApply by March 31! \nFor questions\, email Sarorng Sorn at Sarorng.sorn@phila.gov or Kori White at Kori.white@phila.gov.

DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is a training facilitated by Ur Storytellers in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services (DBHIDS). This training is one of many that are approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goal of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and the importance of sharing them in community settings. This training will be 4 hrs. in length\, delivered in a PowerPoint format\, and interactive activities enhance this training. After the conclusion of the training\, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
