SUMMARY:DBHIDS Sponsored WRAP I Training
DESCRIPTION:Wellness Recovery Action Plan® (WRAP) is an evidence-based practice developed by the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery. This introductory course was initially designed for people living with mental health issues but has since been found to be equally effective for others including people living with a history of substance abuse\, problematic behaviors or any life challenge for which improvement is desired. In WRAP® participants are guided through the process of creating their own WRAP through the identification of personal wellness tools. Learners are introduced to recovery concepts and taught practical ways to incorporate them in daily life. In addition\, learners are taught to identify their personal triggers\, early warning signs and develop action plans to reduce or avoid escalation. Finally\, learners develop a crisis plan and post crisis plan. Learners who complete WRAP Seminar I are authorized to facilitate one-on-one WRAP sessions. Additionally this training session fulfills the prerequisite for the WRAP® Seminar II: WRAP Facilitator Training.

SUMMARY:Trauma-Informed De-Escalation Training *CEU*
DESCRIPTION:This training explores the relationship between stress\, crisis\, trauma\, and toxic stress; focuses on the connection between trauma and escalation; and introduces specific de-escalation strategies in working with trauma survivors. Trainees learn about the similarities and differences between stress\, crisis\, trauma\, and toxic stress. They consider some of the challenges trauma survivors experience when expressing their emotions. Participants explore several concepts that can support trauma survivors in de-escalating. These concepts include safety\, power/control\, communication\, empathy\, naming feelings\, and validation. This training includes small group activities\, large group discussions\, and didactic material. \n**Each training is CE/CEU eligible.** \nBy the end of this training\, participants will be able to:\n• Identify four sources of adversity that clients may experience.\n• Learn about six de-escalation strategies to implement during interactions with traumatized populations.\n• Identify three ways trauma may impact individuals’ emotions and behavior. \nTarget Audience: Human service professionals\, community partners\, master’s level clinicians\, or clinicians in training. \nPresenter: Meagan Corrado\, DSW\, LCSW\, has trained over 8\,000 clinicians\, community leaders\, and trauma survivors across 22 innovative training programs.
