DESCRIPTION:NE area service providers are very aware of lingering and new concerns growing in the community and wish to provide free consultation opportunities for area residents. Those who have questions or concerns about ongoing reactions to the devastating plane crash on Cottman Avenue as well as the many other challenges we face living in our changing world are invited to this event. \nThe NESC agencies will have staff present to offer general information about:\n·parenting in turbulent times\n·stress management in daily living\n·substance use\n·services for adults\n·concerns about children and life in general. \nDetails about the services we offer will be available at each provider station.\nAgency members also will offer a safe place for people to discuss their individual concerns\nand can assist with access to resources if desired.\nThis event is free and open to the community\, with a special emphasis on the Castor\nGardens\, Rhawnhurst and Mayfair neighborhoods.\n**Spanish language services will be available and light refreshments will be served. \nOffered also will be free and confidential behavioral health screenings in English and Spanish

SUMMARY:Ur Storytellers Storytelling Training
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is a training facilitated by Ur Storytellers in collaboration with the City of Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services (DBHIDS). This training is one of many that are approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goal of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and in addition to the importance of sharing them in community settings. This training will be 4 hrs. in length\, delivered in a PowerPoint format\, and interactive activities enhance this training. After the conclusion of the training\, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.

DESCRIPTION:This training\, adapted to address Peer’s particular needs while working remotely\, is intended to support staff in developing and maintaining appropriate boundaries in service provision\, and explore and clarify ethical dilemmas. Participants will explore power and privilege and how these differentials affect our work. Participants will practice assessing decisions about boundaries and dual relationships. \nThe Code of Ethical Conduct will be presented and participants will participate in interactive activities to support their learning experience and the implications of putting them into practice. This three-hour online experience will allow for question and answer\, group discussion\, activities and an evaluation. This 3-hour workshop fulfills the 3-hour CE requirement to maintain a CPS certification in the state of Pennsylvania.
