Promise Zone Behavioral Health Community Engagement Series: Anger Management and Suicide Prevention

The Promise Zone Behavioral Health committee brings together healthcare providers from across the community to offer information about behavioral health services and treatment in the neighborhood. Please join us Elwyn, Dunbar, and the Uplift Center for Grieving Children hosts a presentation about “Anger Management, Violence, and Suicide Prevention.”
The anger management portion will review: Youth statistics for mental health in general and anxiety/depression in particular, then discuss some of the predominant symptoms/warning signs that the youth may be experiencing either of these. Presenters will share some basic strategies caregivers can use to support youth who may be experiencing these symptoms, including accessing formal therapeutic supports as needed.
The suicide prevention portion will discuss: youth statistics for suicidal ideation as well as death by suicide. Presenters will discuss some of the warning signs caregivers may see and encourage caregivers to ask young people who may be thinking about suicide in a calm, direct, non-judgmental way. Presenters will share a simple suicide safety plan caregivers can use as well as recommend an easy to use, free suicide intervention app.
General behavioral health and related resources will be available following the presentation.
