Introduction to Motivational Interviewing, 5 CEU’s
June 7 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Introduction to Motivational Interviewing Kerry Arnold, LSW, Assistant Professor of Behavioral Health Human Services
Motivational interviewing is a counseling method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that acknowledges how difficult it is to make life changes. This workshop is designed to improve and expand the practitioner’s current range of helping skills. The philosophy and practice of Motivational Interviewing focuses on both empathic/non-judgmental AND time-sensitive counseling approaches. In this workshop, we will begin to learn how to think and “speak the language” of Motivational Interviewing.
