Integrating CBT and Mindfulness

Learn to integrate mindfulness techniques into CBT treatment for clients with many psychiatric disorders and psychological difficulties. Mindfulness can be a helpful tool for clients who: avoid, dread, or catastrophize experiencing negative emotion; continuously focus on distressing physiological or mental symptoms; engage in recurrent worry or rumination; try to suppress their thinking; or persistently engage in self-criticism. Robert Hindman, PhD, will teach you specific CBT techniques for these clients, including how to develop a cognitive conceptualization. You will practice several kinds of mindfulness exercises and learn how to motivate and guide clients in developing a consistent mindfulness practice. Dr. Hindman’s research shows that many clients benefit from a 5-minute daily practice.
