Free Community Narcan Training: Combat the Opioid Crisis
March 8 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Philadelphia is facing the greatest public health crisis in a century. Every neighborhood in the city is being hit hard by an epidemic of opioid use and overdose. All are invited to attend this FREE Informative NARCAN training on March 8. A lifesaving drug, Narcan (naloxone) temporarily blocks the effect of opioids and helps a person to start breathing again. It is easy to use and available to anyone in Pennsylvania. At this free training, you’ll learn about what the Philadelphia Mayor’s Task Force to Combat the Opioid Epidemic is doing to help people and strengthen the communities hit hardest. Come learn from three experts who will offer an engaging and informative presentation on the opioid crisis in our city: Allison Herens, LSW, Harm Reduction Manager; Dr. Jeffrey Hom, MD, MPH, Medical Director, Division of Substance Use Prevention and Harm Reduction; and Beverly Woods, St. Peter’s parishioner and Assistant Deputy Managing Director for Health and Human Services for the City of Philadelphia. Pre-registration is required; lunch will be provided.
