SUMMARY:Supporting Youth and Young Adults Training (Sponsored by DBHIDS)
DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour course provides the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to conduct CPS work with young adults. Its design incorporates young adult learning strategies and principles\, promotes critical thinking\, and self-directed and experiential learning to replicate the practice of recovery and peer support. The course centers on the recovery model of behavioral health and on the core values and practices guiding peer-to-peer emotional and psychological wellness. Providing peer support for young adults requires an additional generational lens as well as an understanding of the intersections that define systems of care. This training structure promotes independence\, advocacy and activism\, self-awareness and reflection and a critical analysis of the impact of social determinants on the health and well-being of self and others.
