You can do this beside your desk. \nCertified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Faculty: Shenise Nicole Henderson MBA\, MSS\, LCSW (bio below) \nGuest Faculty Bio:\nShenise Nicole Henderson MBA\, MSS\, LCSW has been in the field of social work for 16 plus years and has dedicated her work to trauma informed care and practice with children\, adults\, families\, and communities through psychotherapy practice\, consultation\, advocacy\, and training. Ms. Henderson works very closely with the foster care system helping to implement trauma informed practice within organizations through continued clinical work and training of foster parents and professionals. Ms. Henderson also directly supports children and families on the road to permanency working to directly reduce the impact of intergenerational trauma and secondary traumatic stress on the caregivers.\nAlong with her clinical and therapeutic work\, Shenise developed a love for yoga and holds a certification in trauma sensitive yoga. She teaches yoga in a professional studio\, and in various schools/recreational centers within the School District of Philadelphia. Shenise is the running coordinator of an active running group for minority women in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of the City of Philadelphia. \nSupported in part by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health \nThis Resiliency Series is specially offered for community members and organizations who through their work are First Responders or are involved with those affected by the Substance Use Crisis in Philadelphia. SUMMARY:Therapeutic Art as Self-Care: Self-Reflection through Collage
DESCRIPTION:Hands-on art activities in this virtual experiential event on the benefits of using collage techniques to cope with work-related stressors. \nArt-making can be a powerful self-care tool to prevent burnout in providers working with individuals who have experienced trauma. This hands-on workshop will explore the benefits of using collage techniques to cope with work-related stressors\, enhance self-awareness\, and strengthen resilience. \nBy popular demand – this event is focused on doing the activities. \nWhat to have: You will need a flat surface to build upon such as heavy-duty paper\, cardboard\, or canvas\, as well as some magazines\, scissors\, glue\, and a writing utensil.\nYour choice of available art materials – such as pencils\, markers\, and paint – is optional. \nNo artistic skill is needed! \nPresenter: Eve J. SUMMARY:Using Art as a Coping Tool to Build Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Providing services to individuals who experience intense daily challenges can lead to burnout over time\, and self-care may be the most powerful coping tool for prevention. \nThis experiential workshop will build upon your understanding of secondary trauma and explore ways that art can be used to help you cope with work-related stressors and beyond. You will learn the benefits of making art for self-care and have opportunities to practice art exercises to promote resilience during the workshop. Practical ways to consistently integrate art for self-care into your life will also be explored. \nWhat to have: Paper and your choice of available basic drawing materials such as pencils\, pens\, markers\, and/or crayons will be used. No artistic skill is needed! \nGuest Faculty Bio:\nEve J. Cannon\, LPC\, LPAT\, ATR-BC\, LPC\, NCC is a licensed professional counselor\, licensed and board-certified art therapist\, trainer\, and health coach with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Caldwell University and Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance from Marymount Manhattan College. Eve also holds a professional certificate in Holistic Health Counseling from Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She has over a decade of experience working with adults and children providing clinical mental health and educational services in outpatient\, residential\, school\, hospital\, and private practice settings. Eve specializes in helping people use art as a tool to communicate and process challenging emotions and experiences\, as well as upgrading lifestyle practices to improve overall wellbeing.
