This training is one of many trainings that is approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goals of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and in addition to the importance of sharing them in community settings. This training will be 3 hrs. at length\, delivered in a power point format\, and interactive activities enhance this training. After the conclusion of the training\, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.

DESCRIPTION:*Trigger Warning*: This training involves detailed discussions of drug use\, overdoses\, and demonstrations on how to use Narcan. If you have any concerns\, please feel free to email SUPHR staff at overdose.prevention@phila.gov \nThis training provides background information and data on opioid use\, Philadelphia’s drug supply\, and overdoses in our city. There is also a detailed description of how to recognize and respond to an opioid-related overdose with naloxone\, or Narcan. The training is approximately 1.5 hours with an additional 15 minutes for questions. \nYou can choose to have Narcan discreetly mailed to you after the training. We aim to prioritize our Narcan supply for those with the least access to Narcan and those most likely to witness an overdose. If you have the resources to acquire Narcan on your own\, please consider going to your local pharmacy to get it.

DESCRIPTION:Intercommunity Action’s next big community event will be on Saturday 12/2/23 with a goal of promoting health equity over the holiday season. We’re partnering with the lovely folks at Block Church\, Starfinder Foundation\, Tabor Services\, Northern Children Services\, and NorthLight Community Center for this event. \nTogether\, we’ll be offering safe\, family fun at Starfinder’s large turf fields complete with cozy snacks\, music\, bounce house\, face paint\, free photos with Santa\, and holiday crafts! We’ll also have a resource fair offering critical resources within the community including free mental health screenings and a winter coat give away. In addition\, parents will have a chance to “shop” from our collection of donated toys for their children.

SUMMARY:Overdose Prevention and Reversal Training
DESCRIPTION:*Trigger Warning*: This training involves detailed discussions of drug use\, overdoses\, and demonstrations on how to use Narcan. If you have any concerns\, please feel free to email SUPHR staff at overdose.prevention@phila.gov \nThis training provides background information and data on opioid use\, Philadelphia’s drug supply\, and overdoses in our city. There is also a detailed description of how to recognize and respond to an opioid-related overdose with naloxone\, or Narcan. The training is approximately 1.5 hours with an additional 15 minutes for questions. \nYou can choose to have Narcan discreetly mailed to you after the training. We aim to prioritize our Narcan supply for those with the least access to Narcan and those most likely to witness an overdose. If you have the resources to acquire Narcan on your own\, please consider going to your local pharmacy to get it.
