SUMMARY:Ur Storytellers Storytellers Training
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is a training facilitated by UrStorytellers in collaboration with the City of Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services (DBHIDS). This training is one of many that are approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goal of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and in addition to the importance of sharing them in community settings. This training will be 4 hrs. in length\, delivered in a PowerPoint format\, and interactive activities enhance this training. After the conclusion of the training\, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.

SUMMARY:How We Heal: Film Screening and Mental Health Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Children First\, in partnership with Healthy News Works\, is hosting a film screening about student mental health and trauma. How We Heal is a 20-minute film developed by students to learn ways that people can heal from mental health challenges and trauma. The students who created this film spoke with therapists\, pediatricians\, a dancer\, and an NFL player to discuss what healing is and ways one can heal when facing a difficult time. How We Heal was named Best Children’s Media winner at the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival! \nAfter the film screening\, we will host a panel discussion with lived experts and youth voices to comment on the state of children’s mental health in Pennsylvania today and advocate for needed reforms. Learn how you can advocate for reforms in your schools and communities. Doors will open at 5 and the program will begin at 5:30pm – dinner will be provided and this event is family/kid friendly! Now\, she will be hitting the road alongside City officials for a One Philly Budget Town Hall Tour across Philadelphia from Saturday\, April 27\, 2024 through Tuesday\, June 4\, 2024 to provide transparency and allow community engagement in the City of Philadelphia’s budget process. \nAt the One Philly Budget Town Halls hosted by Mayor Parker\, residents will hear a brief overview of the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget from City Officials and learn how the Mayor’s budget will contribute to creating a Safer\, Cleaner\, Greener Philadelphia with access to Economic Opportunity for All. The Mayor’s Town Halls will also provide an opportunity for residents to get involved with local government\, connect with dozens of City\, state\, and federal agencies and service providers\, and learn about free resources and services provided.
