DESCRIPTION:This training equips participants with an understanding of the cycle of escalation and with strategies for preventing escalation as well as defusing tension.As a result of this workshop\, learners will be able to: identify what causes and contributes to escalation\, list strategies for maintaining safety\, and use Verbal Methods for defusing tension. In addition\, participants will understand the role of self-awareness in de-escalating tension.

SUMMARY:Ur Storytellers Storytelling Training
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling is a training facilitated by UrStorytellers in collaboration with the City of Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual DisAbility Services (DBHIDS). This training is one of many that are approved as a required prerequisite for applicants who want to pursue the goal of becoming a Certified Peer Specialist. Our goal is to inform the recovery and faith-based communities on how to share their stories and in addition to the importance of sharing them in community settings. This training will be 4 hrs. in length\, delivered in a PowerPoint format\, and interactive activities enhance this training. After the conclusion of the training\, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
